Product Overview

Product Overview

The Omni R&D ORDVGF1010 Compact Vacuum Induction Graphitization Furnace is a precision research-scale system engineered for graphitization, sintering, and high-temperature heat treatment of carbon materials in university, national lab, and corporate R&D environments. It combines medium-frequency induction heating with a sealed SS304 vacuum chamber to deliver temperatures up to 3000°C under vacuum, argon, or nitrogen atmosphere — in a compact, lab-friendly footprint.

Built for programs developing next-generation battery materials, fuel cell catalysts, carbon nanotubes, graphene, polyimide films, and advanced carbon composites, the ORDVGF1010 is the most accessible entry point into 3000°C graphitization without the facility and budget footprint of a full industrial system.

Optional Upgrades

Enhanced Vacuum Package — 10-5 torr

Add a diffusion pump and roots pump stage for high-vacuum processing. Recommended for volatile species handling, ultra-low-oxygen environments, and reduced vaporization of sensitive samples at extreme temperature. Contact us for pricing.

Accelerated Cooling Module

Inert-gas injection (Ar/N2) for faster chamber cooldown, reducing cycle time for R&D screening workflows. Specify target cycle time at RFQ.

Custom Chamber Sizes

Standard hot zone is Ø100 × 100 mm. We regularly build Ø200 × 200 mm and Ø300 × 300 mm configurations, with larger production-scale systems available on request. Supply us with your sample geometry and throughput target and we'll engineer the appropriate chamber and power configuration.

Application-Specific Configurations

  • Battery anode graphitization — extended soak profiles, optimized crucible geometry
  • Carbon nanotube purification — high-vacuum package with iron-removal cycling
  • Carbon fiber / polyimide film graphitization — continuous inert-gas flow configuration
  • Fuel cell catalyst carbon supports — low-throughput R&D configuration with fast cycle turnover
  • Graphite film / VGCF synthesis — tailored ramp profiles and atmosphere control

Training, Installation & Commissioning

Complimentary Online Training — 3–5 working days, included with every system. Covers installation, standard operating procedures, and routine troubleshooting.

On-Site Installation & Training Package (optional) — 10 working days total (4 days install & commissioning + 6 days hands-on training). Base fee $3,000, plus travel reimbursement (~$7,800 estimated for U.S. destinations). Extended on-site support available at $600/day.

Note: On-site service requires 6–8 weeks advance scheduling for engineer visa processing. An invitation letter will be provided to expedite approval.

Consumables & Annual Operating Cost

For customers running approximately 2 full cycles per week (100 cycles/year), expected annual consumables cost is ~$2,760, with a recommended initial stock order of ~$3,100 for backup coverage.

Consumable Specification Lifespan Annual Cost (est.)
Graphite Seal Ring Assembly ≥2200°C, anti-graphite infiltration ~80 cycles $562
Low-Temp Thermocouple (Type K) −40 to 1200°C ~60 cycles $300
Infrared Temperature Sensor 8–14 µm, ±1% accuracy ~150 cycles $633
Graphite Crucible ≥99.9% purity ~120 cycles $664
Annual Total ~$2,760

Lower-intensity use (e.g., educational or occasional R&D at ≤8 hrs/week) will extend these intervals significantly. We recommend quarterly preventive maintenance focused on o-ring seals, temperature sensors, and pressure gauges.

Typical Applications

  • Graphitization of lithium-ion battery anode materials
  • Carbon nanotube (CNT) purification and iron removal
  • Graphene heat treatment and structural enhancement
  • Carbon fiber filament shaping and graphitization
  • Polyimide (PI) film graphitization / graphite film synthesis
  • VGCF and spherical graphite purification
  • Fuel cell and electrolyzer catalyst carbon supports
  • High-temperature sintering and melting in carbon environments
  • R&D-scale process development for commercial graphitic material scale-up

Process Gas & Safety Notes

  • Argon is the recommended process gas for maximum temperature operation (≥99.999% purity). No plasma formation observed under standard operating pressures.
  • Nitrogen is acceptable as a lower-cost alternative for applications tolerant to reactive species at temperature.
  • Carbon monoxide (CO) is not supported in the standard configuration due to safety, material compatibility, and process stability considerations.
  • Combustible or toxic atmospheres require a custom engineering review — please contact us before specifying.

Scale-Up Pathway

The ORDVGF1010 is designed as an R&D-scale platform with a direct path to commercial-scale production systems. Customers validating processes at 100 mm hot zone can migrate to 200 mm, 300 mm, or fully custom industrial configurations without re-learning the control platform or requalifying atmosphere chemistry. We've delivered scaled systems to partners processing at commercial throughput — ask us about your scale-up roadmap during the RFQ.
