Product Overview
Omni R&D LLC's Dual-Cup Atmospheric Consistometer for API Cement Slurry Conditioning
The Omni R&D Model 1250 Atmospheric Consistometer prepares and conditions oil-well cement slurry samples for API 10 laboratory test procedures. Conditioned slurry is ready for rheology measurement, free-fluid determination, and API fluid-loss testing. The unit also runs atmospheric-pressure consistency measurements in a heated water bath from ambient to 93.3 °C (200 °F).
Two independently timed slurry cups let your lab condition two samples at once, doubling throughput for cement design, QC, and field-blend verification work.
Key Features
- Eurotherm 32h8 PID controller holds the water bath to ±1 °C.
- Dual 465 mL slurry cups for simultaneous testing of two cement slurries.
- Direct-reading consistency in Bearden units (Bc), 0–100 Bc range.
- Independent left and right timers with alarms that signal when a preset conditioning period ends.
- Motor-driven cup rotation at a nominal 150 rpm.
- Corrosion-resistant stainless steel water bath and bearings.
- Front sight-glass level gauge and rear drain valve for quick bath-fluid changes.
- Compact benchtop footprint of 40 × 40 cm (15.75 × 15.75 in).
Typical Applications
- Slurry conditioning prior to rheology, free-fluid, and fluid-loss tests
- Atmospheric consistency and thickening behavior screening
- Cement additive, retarder, and blend development
- Oilfield service and well-cementing QC laboratories
- University petroleum engineering teaching and research labs

Frequently Asked Questions
What is an atmospheric consistometer used for?
It conditions oil-well cement slurry at controlled temperature and constant stirring before secondary tests such as rheology, free fluid, and fluid loss, simulating the slurry's mixing and pumping history at atmospheric pressure.
What is a Bearden unit (Bc)?
The Bearden unit is the dimensionless measure of cement slurry consistency used in API cement testing, read on a 0–100 Bc scale.
Can it run two tests at once?
Yes. Each of the two cups has its own timer, so two slurries can be conditioned simultaneously.
